10 Cheapest & Most Beautiful Countries in Europe to Visit in Your 20s
Whenever we’re planning a trip, we always have something in mind. Maybe it’s how famous the destination is, or if they’re a must-visit on our bucket list. A goal is always needed to know which places you want to go to. This time, I’ll help you if you’re looking for the cheapest countries in Europe to visit in your 20s.
Even if I firmly believe you can travel to any country on a budget, it’s also true that there are some countries cheaper than others. I mean, traveling shouldn’t be about always spending thousands of dollars in an all-inclusive resort in the Maldives or breaking the bank while trying to create new memories. That’s why I made this list of the most affordable countries to visit in your 20s, cause yes, money shouldn’t stop you from creating unforgettable moments.

Cheapest Countries in Europe to Visit in Your 20s
Portugal
Food and Transportation: $60
Accommodation: $100 on average for hotels; $50-$70 for an Airbnb
Portugal will always be a must when traveling to Europe. However, it is a very underrated destination when traveling alone in your 20s, and even in groups.
Food and transportation
For food in Portugal, you’d spend around $40 or maybe $50 if you’re planning to take some cups during dinner. And, for transportation, you can expect to spend around $25, including an Uber or Taxi and public transportation.
Accommodation
In Portugal, you can get gorgeous departments for $50 or $70 if you’re going alone or with another person. But if you’re traveling in a group, you can get an Airbnb for $200 or $600 which would result in $28 or $71 depending on what you like.
Greece
Food and Transportation: $60
Accommodation: $127 on average for hotels; $40-$80 for an Airbnb
Greece will be my forever destination on my bucket list. I just don’t get tired of seeing those beautiful beaches and restaurants in Santorini (in pictures ofc, because I haven’t been able to visit it yet T.T).
Some of the cheapest places to visit in Greece are:
- Kythnos (with more than 70 beaches!)
- Tinos (close to Mykonos and way cheaper)
- Kimolos (another great option if you’re looking for beautiful blue beaches)

For food in Greece, you can expect to spend $35 or $40 on local restaurants, and maybe $25 or $30 on transportation depending on your destination. Uber is available in this country!
Accommodations
There you can find an Airbnb for $40 or $80, depending on the place you get it and all the luxury you’re looking for. And if you’re traveling with a group, you can get it for $100 or $150, which would be $14 or $22 per person!

Albania
Food and Transportation: $55
Accommodation: $37 on average for hotels; $15-$35 for an Airbnb
One of the hidden gems in the European continent. If you’re looking for the best beaches in Europe and affordable prices, then this is your destination.
Albania is a country located between Greece and Montenegro. You’ll find great food, excellent prices, coffee culture, and more in this country! Plus, due to its location, you’ll have the vibes of many European destinations in the same place!
Food and transportation
You can expect to spend around $15 on meals while visiting Albania (told you, it’s so cheap!). And for transportation, you should have around $11 on your budget.
Accommodations
Hotels in Albania can be found for an average of $37! And, if you want to stay at an Airbnb, you can find some of them close to the beach for as cheap as $15! I’m telling you, this is your dream destination on a budget.
Czech Republic
Food and Transportation: $40
Accommodation: $100 on average for hotels; $35-$100 for an Airbnb
For a classic European experience on a budget, the Czech Republic should be on your bucket list. This country is full of art, history, and great nightlife for an affordable price. Plus, it’s an excellent destination for a romantic getaway.

In the Czech Republic, you can expect to spend less than $50 for both food and transportation. You can buy meals for around $20 per day, while you can spend about $10 on transportation.

The Czech Republic has some beautiful and romantic Airbnbs around the city. They go from $35 to $50 on average, depending on the location and what you’re looking for in an apartment. The hotels, on the other hand, can cost approximately $100 per couple.
Romania
Food and Transportation: $45
Accommodation: $50 on average for hotels; $35-$100 for an Airbnb
Another hidden gem in the European continent. Romania is a great option if you love nature, walking through beautiful landscapes and hiking.

In Romania, you can find hotels at an average price of $50 for a couple. But, if you’re like me and rather stay in a cute Airbnb, the price will range between $35 and $100, depending on what you want and its location.

Georgia
Food and Transportation: $27
Accommodation: $19 on average for hotels; $25-$80 for an Airbnb
Yes, we continue with the hidden gems. Georgia is one of the cheapest countries in Europe to visit while you’re young! This affordable country is a great opportunity for those who don’t have a big budget for traveling, yet want to get to know places.

Hear me out, hear me out… you can expect to spend $10 on your daily meals! And I’m not talking about only eating at McDonald’s, but at local restaurants! And for transportation, you can have a budget of only $5!

Hotels in Georgia have an average price of $19 for a couple, which I think is a great price. And if you’d like to stay in an Airbnb, you can find a gorgeous apartment for less than $100.
Austria
Food and Transportation: $60
Accommodation: $134 on hotels; $43-$150 for an Airbnb
I already talked about how cheap it is to travel to Austria on Christmas. However, this isn’t the only season to visit this beautiful country. This is a good option if you love to know about art, history, and architecture since this is a destination full of them. You’ll find gorgeous landscapes, beautiful cities, and dreamy lakes!

While planning your budget, you can plan to spend about $33 on meals in Austria and about $22 on transportation. Uber is available in this country, so you don’t have to worry about how you’ll get around. Anyways, Austria is known for being easy to get around!

Hotels in Austria cost about $134 per night for a couple, and you can find an Airbnb in the center of the capital for $43 to $150 each night. But, if you’re looking for a cheaper option, remember you can always root for hostels!
Croatia
Food and Transportation: $50
Accommodation: $84 on hotels; $50-$150 for an Airbnb
Croatia is also at the top of my travel bucket list! This destination is known for being one of the cheapest European countries to visit in your 20s because of its safety and affordability. Plus, it’s a fantastic option to dive into European culture!

For food in this country, you can expect to spend about $25 on your daily meals and about $10 on local transportation. Taxis are also available, including Uber, but they could be a bit more expensive.

The average price for a hotel in Croatia is $84 if you’re traveling with your partner; Airbnb is another good option since you can find apartments for a great price in the center of the city.
Hungary
Food and Transportation: $35
Accommodation: $67 on hotels; $20-$40 for an Airbnb
Are you looking for unforgettable memories full of fun? Then, Hungary is the right destination for you! And, of course, the romance won’t be left aside if that’s what you expect.

I know, you can’t imagine Hungary (having Budapest) being one of the cheapest countries in Europe to visit in your 20s. But, it’s possible to eat your three meals for $25 or $35, depending on where you eat at. You can also use their local transportation for $10 or $15! Acknowledge that Uber isn’t available in Hungary, so you would have to use their local taxis and buses.

For accommodation, you can quickly find $20 or $40 for an Airbnb or stay at hotels for you and your partner for about $67.
Malta
Food and Transportation: $80
Accommodations: $148 for hotels; $80-$120 for an Airbnb
If you want a Sicily experience for cheaper, Malta is your destination.
This country is located in the south of Sicily and the center of the Mediterranean, so it’s a fantastic place to visit if you’re looking for sunshine and summer vibes almost all year.

You should budget around $40 for your daily meals, but it’s going to depend on what and where you decide to eat. For local transportation, you can expect to spend $20.

Hotels in Malta have an average price of $148 for couples, but if you wish to stay at an Airbnb the prices can vary between $80 and $120. Remember it’s all going to be determined by the location of the apartment/cabin and the number of people that are traveling.
